The ronqueo is more than the cutting of a fish; it is a ritual that celebrates technique, tradition, and respect for food. In Japan, the Bluefin Tuna symbolizes dedication, and at Sommo it inspires us to recognize the cycles that shape us: past, present, and future, each year marking a new beginning.
This year, the night of ronqueo becomes a unique culinary experience, where every cut of the Bluefin Tuna turns into both spectacle and learning.

The night of the ronqueo is not only experienced through the palate, but also through sound. Jimeno, a Mexican DJ based in Tulum, will accompany this first evening with an ambient sound performance from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, followed by a set that will guide the dinner—creating a sonic journey that invites us to fully inhabit the present.
With more than ten years of experience, Jimeno has taken his music to festivals in Germany and stages as far away as Macedonia, while remaining deeply rooted in the Mexican scene.
His collection of rarities, peculiar vinyls, and timeless house makes him the perfect sound storyteller for this anniversary—where every beat converses with tradition and opens space for connection.

On Saturday the 27th, Sommo transforms and comes alive with sound to offer a unique experience lasting from 6:00 pm to 2:00 am.
Every corner of the space becomes a stage, every sound a thread that connects our community and brings to life the celebration of our third anniversary.
A Mexican label that releases funk, disco, and grooves from both national and international artists. With more than 100 digital releases and 30 on vinyl, it has built a legacy that creates a space where music becomes encounter, memory, and celebration.

Founder of Super Spicy Records, his sound is a bridge between disco, funk, and jazz. Internationally recognized—including in Beatport’s Top Nu Disco Artists list—he has brought his music to festivals such as EDC and collaborates with renowned artists, turning every set into an experience that resonates and connects with his audience.

Originally from Mexico City, he began his sonic journey in 2005, exploring house and its variations with both precision and sensitivity. His work as A&R for Super Spicy Records and his releases on vinyl, cassette, and digital reflect his passion for ’70s and ’80s disco and funk, crafting sets that are true journeys through time and rhythm.
